Weavers Hall is set to become a landmark in sustainable construction, offering 459 purpose-built student bedrooms, communal spaces, and social areas across a striking 16-storey development in the heart of Belfast city centre. Scheduled to open in 2026, this project responds to the increasing demand for energy-efficient, multi-occupancy student accommodation.

J&S McKee Ltd was appointed to deliver the initial groundwork and enabling works for this flagship project. Our involvement included:

  • Full site clearance of the site of the former Movie House Cinema
  • Completion of bulk excavations and ground preparation
  • All enabling works for the piling mat and utility services
  • Construction of reinforced concrete substructures
  • Delivery of the ground floor slab, preparing the site for vertical construction

Notably, Weavers Hall will be Belfast’s first Passivhaus-certified student accommodation and the largest Passivhaus building on the island of Ireland, setting a new benchmark for sustainable, low-energy construction in the region.
