The Old Bushmills Distillery - Off Site Maturation Facility
This project saw the bulk excavation of a 50acre green field site to be developed for the new Off Site Maturation Facility for the Old Bushmills Distillery. The scope of J&S McKee Ltd's work on this project was to take this area from open fields to an accessible site complete with a new entrance, new roadways through the site for construction to commence for new warehousing facilities, forming the platform for the first warehouse and all associated drainage. Included within this site was an area which could be utilised for rock extraction, thereby minimising the impact to the local area of by reducing the number of trucks needed to bring stone to site. As this site is in a very sensitive environmental area, with waterways draining into the River Bush, we had to set up and manage surface water control to ensure no contamination of the waterways as a result of construction machinery or the earthworks. It was also necessary to ensure that dust pollution was monitored and kept to an absolute minimum throughout the project. This site presented itself with very challenging topographical conditions with gradients, poor ground and rock. Working against the elements and with a program to adhere to J&S McKee Ltd were proud to complete their package of works on this project and hand back to the Client, Old Bushmills Distillery.
